Developed with mechanical longevity and efficiency in mind, Hostaform® SlideX™ POM is an acetal copolymer that significantly reduces noise, wear or friction in the sliding motion of critical parts.

With a high mechanical property profile, Hostaform® SlideX™ POM is ideal for countless applications including, bearings, gear shift systems, stabilizer joints, roller shutter devices, and furniture slide systems. When compared to alternative materials, Hostaform® SlideX™ POM offers a significantly lower coefficient of friction without compromising high mechanical performance.

External lubricants, such as oil and grease, are not necessary. Hostaform® SlideX™ POM eliminates potential for poor lubrication, a root cause for part failure. The intrinsic low-friction properties allow for a smoother, more energy-efficient operation of machines. The inherent ability to resist wear, allows for outstanding, predicable, part performance over the life of the product.

When developing components and machines that exhibit low friction and wear, Hostaform® SlideX™ POM is the optimum choice. With more than 50 years of technical and application expertise, Celanese polymer experts work side-by-side with designers and engineers globally, to understand the tribological requirements of each application. We have developed a complete portfolio of Hostaform® SlideX™ POM grades perfectly suited for extending the life of critical, sliding, mechanical parts.

Hostaform® SlideX™ POM Benefits

  • Friction and wear modified.
  • Improved friction and wear performance versus POM, PET, PP and Steel etc.
  • Possible to be used without external lubricants
  • Noise-Free during sliding friction

  • Fortron
1140L4 HD9050 Bk, 1140L4 SD3002 BK, 1140L4 SF 3001 NC

Fortron® polyphenylene sulphide (PPS) is a high-temperature semicrystalline polymer that provides high thermal stability, very high chemical resistance, stiffness, strength and creep resistance.

Product Properties

By adding glass fibers and glass fiber/mineral mixtures to standard Fortron PPS, it allows:

  • service temperatures up to 240°C
  • very good resistance to chemicals and solvents
  • inherent flame resistant (UL 94 V-0, some grades 5VA)
  • very low moisture absorption
  • suitable for lead-free soldering
  • excellent creep resistance even at elevated temperatures

The Fortron PPS chemical structure provides excellent chemical and thermal resistance. Insoluble in all known solvents below 200°C (392°F), it has very good stability in both typical and alternative automotive fuels.

  • Mineral-glass grades
  • Low-wear grades
  • Blow-molding grades
  • Medical technology (MT®)

  • Injection molding
  • Extrusion (film, fiber, sheet, shapes)
  • Blow molding

In addition, Fortron PPS can be extruded with meltblown and spunbond technologies for melt spun nonwovens. Unfilled, high viscosity Fortron PPS is also suitable for extrusion and compression molding to produce sheets, rods and other stock shapes commonly used for prototyping.

It has broad automotive, drinking water, food contact and aerospace approvals.

  • Pressureless sintering
  • Ram extrusion
  • Compression molding
  • Injection molding

As a polyethylene with a very high molecular weight, GUR UHMW-PE is produced as a powder that requires special processing. In the semi-finished industry, the high pressures generated in compression molding and ram extrusion processes fuse the particles together. The material is then typically formed into stock shapes or profiles. It can also be processed by gelation and pressureless sintering.

GUR UHMW-PE premium grades for orthopedic implants and standard grades meet the requirements of heath organizations, such as the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Union food-conformity. FDA Drug and Device Master Files are available for premium grades.
